How people in Türkiye shop online
A checkout designed for another country can lose Turkish customers at the last step. It is easier to plan for these habits from the start than to fix the shop later.
Paying by credit card in instalments (taksit) is common in Türkiye. Whether you can offer it depends on your payment provider and your agreement with them; if you can, the options should be visible before checkout, not only at the last step.
Many shoppers want to ask something before they order. A WhatsApp button on the product page, with the product name already in the message, answers the question without losing the sale.
Shipping cost, delivery time and how returns work should be on the product page in plain Turkish, not only in the contract text at the bottom of the checkout.
Turkish addresses are organised by province and district (il, ilçe). The form should follow that order, accept Turkish phone numbers as people write them, and ask for nothing it does not need.
The paperwork
An online shop selling to consumers in Türkiye typically needs a pre-contract information form and a distance sales contract that the buyer accepts at checkout, a privacy notice under KVKK, and registration with ETBİS, the Ministry of Trade’s e-commerce information system.
